Kudos to Creativity!

Some people watch Lost. Others watch Dancing with the Stars. I watch Degrassi: The Next Generation. It’s one of my guilty pleasures. It may be a corny Canadian soap opera for some but for myself, it’s 110% intense, which was the old slogan for the show. If there was one thing that I wasn’t a fan of then it would have to be their teasers. Like any other teaser, it did the basic job. However, they have definitely upped the ante in their creative direction when it came to their teaser for their upcoming season 10.

Take a look-see..

I absolutely love the creative direction that they took in introducing the new season and it’s not because I’m a fan of the show, though I’m sure it plays a small part. I appreciate how they based the story at a chaotic and unpredictable carnival, which parallels to the theme of the show itself. I mean, what is high school, puberty, and teenagers if not chaotic and unpredictable? They have their characters which are the main players of the carnival. Each character they play – ringmaster, fortune-teller, freak show artist – foreshadows an event that will happen in the show. And to tie it with the song, “Shark in the Water” by V V Brown. It compliments the story.

I’m just glad that they decided to take a new creative direction. It’s nice to have seen a brand grow and improve since their start. Even if you haven’t seen an episode, the teaser itself takes the audience on a journey, leaving them in anticipation and to question what will happen next. It doesn’t take a die-hard fan to appreciate a successful spoiler.

Kudos the creative director of this piece!
